Hollywood actor Kevin Connolly, popularly known for his role in HBO series “Entourage,” is currently directing a new TV show called “Cryptos.” The actor made this announcement at the North American Bitcoin Conference in Miami last week.
Crypto TV show under development
Kevin Connolly revealed that the new TV series called “Cryptos” is under development at the moment. He is hopeful that the new show will help shed light on cryptocurrencies and blockchain and make people understand them better.
The show has already garnered excitement within the crypto space. It follows the story of a young startup aiming to launch a cryptocurrency-fueled entertainment platform. Kevin Connolly is set to feature while directing the show at the same time.
The series will be co-produced by the cofounders of the Academy School of Blockchain, Jason King and Erik Sords. King has become popular after helping launch the Florida-based homeless shelter Sean’s Outpost in Pensacola. Cryptocurrency donations funded the initiative.
King during an interview with News. Bitcoin stated that “The series is being produced by American Cinema International and we’re currently in pre-production at the moment. I came on board about six months ago after reading the pilot, and I helped develop the story architecture for the first season — We hope to start filming in May.”
Producers aiming to bring crypto to the mainstream
The producers of the TV show are working on ensuring cryptocurrencies go mainstream. Erik Sords is currently developing a decentralized global studio dubbed Dionysia in L.A.
The TV show highlights the challenges encountered when seeking financing for movies. The group of friends in the show finds itself forced to fund a project using cryptocurrencies in order to create a peer-to-peer film studio.
The actors and director of the show recent stated that people are scared to conceptualize cryptocurrencies due to lack of understanding. Connolly stated that “People like myself are still learning, but the curiosity is there. [Sords and King] want to bring cryptocurrencies to the mainstream for the better of cryptocurrency and I’m just the filmmaker interested in telling cool stories and exploring cool characters — For me, it’s about relationships and friendships — That’s what people tune in to see.”
Connolly went further to discuss the pilot. He stated that what he liked most about the show was that it involved actors and crew that say “screw the establishment” and try to change things within the Hollywood system.
The North American Bitcoin Conference was the first time that the show was revealed to the public and it was received with applause. The show is expected to have ten episodes for the first season. The producers are hopeful that the show will be picked up by streaming giants such as Netflix and Amazon Prime.
