Nipsey Hussle died

Ermias Davidson Asghedom, popularly known as Nipsey Hussle, is dead. He died on Sunday in Los Angeles, near his clothing store, according to the LAPD. In the 3:20 PM shooting, two other people were injured.

Per the LAPD Tweet:

The three victims were all taken to the hospital. Nipsey was pronounced dead on arrival.

His Death a Big Blow and a Shock All Around

Nipsey’s death has sent shockwaves to his family, friends, fellow singers and fans around the world. It has also affected the Bitcoin, the cryptoverse and the blockchain communities. The 33-year-old musician was one of the early adopters and proponents of Bitcoin.

In 2013, Nipsey began advocating for Bitcoin. He invested in the coin and took it upon himself to educate others about the new way of making payments.

He was one of the first musicians to acknowledge that FUD was keeping people away from buying, holding and selling bitcoin, or using it as a payment method. From the onset, Nipsey led the way in making sure that his fans knew about the nascent tech.

Early Adopter of the Follow Coin

Nipsey Hussle not only spread awareness about crypto, but was also involved in genuinely useful coins. He was one of the biggest early adopters of the Follow Coin, which educates people about how crypto works.

He cautioned people about fraud and scams that were prevalent in the market, way before ICOs got the dubious distinction of being scam vehicles.

Gang Violence

Police reports speculate that Hussle’s shooting is a product of gang-related violence. Mark-Thomas Ridley, a Los Angeles County board supervisor, stated:

…Nipsey Hussle was a father, businessman, entertainer, and inspiration to many… Our communities have lost too many young men and bright futures to the scourge of gun violence. For healing to occur, even from this terrible incident, justice must be sought through legal means…

Nipsey was a member of the Rollin’ Sixty Crisps, a national street gang, according to his Facebook page.

Tribute from Stars

Nipsey teamed up with popular rap musicians including Young Thug, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Dollar Sign Ty, YG and Mick Mill. These stars, among many others, have poured tributes to the family and friends. All of them had a common message – Nipsey was gone too soon, ahead of his time.

Rihanna wrote:

The rapper’s last tweet was ominous, saying:

He died before realizing the fruit of the blockchain revolution, of which he was part. He will be dearly missed. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his loved ones have strength and perseverance to take them through during these trying times.
